Kennett House Bed and Breakfast
William Scarlett built our grand house in 1910, for his son Robert. He constructed three granite houses (in a row) on West State Street for members of his family. This Robert Scarlett House is a significant component in the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Kennett Square Historic District, listed August 18, 1989. The three bay wide, granite, three-story, single family dwelling is an excellent example of the classic American Four Square architectural style. Other features include a patterned slate, hipped roof, partial jerkinhead cross gable, bracketed cornice, three-over-one double-hung sash windows in various widths, and a full width, one-story veranda on the south elevation. The house is filled with magnificent chestnut moldings and trim.

All rates include a full breakfast. Children 10 and over are welcome. Sorry, we are unable to accommodate pets. For the safety and comfort of all guests, smoking and candles are not permitted in the B&B.
Our rooms:
- The Longwood Suite, our spacious celebration suite, is the perfect place to spend an anniversary, a birthday, or a relaxing getaway weekend with someone very special.
- The Wyeth Room provides an introduction to some of the fine works of the Brandywine Valley's premier family of painters, the Wyeths; NC, Andrew and Jamie. The room features a high-backed, queen-sized bed, pine armoire with cable tv, and a comfy wicker chair.
- The Brandywine Room features a queen sized, mahogany, four-poster bed dressed with lovely toile bed linens.
- The Delaware Room is our "cozy suite", a perfect haven for a quiet getaway -- overlooking our back garden and carriage house.
Public Rooms. Our guests are welcome to relax and enjoy our public rooms as well as our comfortable guest rooms. These public rooms include the parlour on the first floor, and the second floor sitting room with games, guest refrigerator and yummy snacks.
Breakfast. Yummy, full breakfast with fresh, local ingredients; rich, hot coffee, complimentary treats and beverages.
