Friendship Bookstore

Friendship Bookstore began as a small book and gift shop in Belleville, PA. Founded by Mr. Ray French, the store sold books and bibles to the surrounding rural community. Eventually the store moved to downtown Lewistown.
Theil Kauffman began working at the store part-time while in high school. After graduating from college and working as a teacher for several years, he became manager in 1978. Theil and his wife, Andrea, purchased Friendship Bookstore from Ray French in January, 1987. Located on S. Brown St., Lewistown for most of the store's existence, Friendship Bookstore moved to its present location at the Mifflin County Commons in Burnham, PA in July, 2004.
