Our firm represents clients in state and federal courts throughout Pennsylvania. We represent individuals and business enterprises in a wide range of commercial litigation, intellectual property and regulatory enforcement matters, and we advise corporations in connection with patent, trademark, copyright, insurance, environmental and risk management issues. We regularly represent insurance carriers in insurance coverage, unfair trade practices and bad faith matters and we defend product liability, professional negligence and agent and broker claims and lawsuits.
Our principals have represented clients and served as local counsel to out-of-state law firms, in patent, trademark and copyright actions and we are currently involved in patent litigation being conducted pursuant to the new 2005 Local Patent Rules of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. These new rules, promulgated by the Judges of the Western District Court, are designed to make Western Pennsylvania a forum of choice for patent infringement and invalidation actions. The rules provide for accelerated case disposition of patent claims and make numerous changes to the process of Federal Rule 26 disclosures, claim construction, use of expert witnesses and disclosure of infringement and invalidation contentions. The Pennsylvania Western District is one of only several district courts in the United States to have adopted such Local Patent Rules.
Our law firm generally charges fees based on an hourly rate, which is highly competitive with those rates charged by firms performing comparable work in the same geographical area. On a selective basis, we represent corporate and individual plaintiffs in litigation under a modified or purely contingent fee arrangement. Under this arrangement, our compensation is contingent in whole or in part, on the result we obtain for our client. Cases in which we have accepted a contingent fee arrangement include legal and medical malpractice, securities fraud, intellectual property, environmental contamination, personal injury, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty.
