Acupuncture & Massage offers Acupuncture by Bev Fornoff & Massage by Kelly McIntyre. Five Element Acupuncture uses the laws of nature as well as your symptoms of pain and illness to guide diagnosis and treatment of the underlying imbalance of Qi (energy). It runs like a river throughout the body in a network of channels called meridians. Sterile, disposable acupuncture needles are inserted into specific points located on these pathways to directly influence your Qi. |

Acupuncture & Massage
Beverly Fornoff, M.Ac., Licensed Acupuncturist, brings over twenty years of experience in health care as a Respiratory Therapist, as well as over five years of Acupuncture experience. NCCAOM certified, and a graduate of TAI-SOPHIA Institute in Laurel, Maryland, Beverly specializes in treating people with symptoms of chronic pain, depression, anxiety, insomnia, low energy, and those interested in maintaining a general level of wellness. Acupuncture. Using the concept that the same five elements present in the natural world are present in us as well, acupuncture helps to achieve and maintain balance and harmony by supporting each element, and by building, moving or dispersing energy. When all five elements are healthy and balanced, there is wellness. And when they are not in balance, there is pain, illness and discomfort. Your signs and symptoms point the practitioner to one or more elements needing attention. Treatments are typically required weekly for 6 – 8 weeks and then reduced in frequency. This varies between individuals and depends on the length and severity of symptoms. Many people find it valuable to continue monthly maintenance treatments once they are well. Acupuncture needles are sterile, prepackaged, and made of solid stainless steel. They are thin – about the thickness of two head hairs. They are used only once and are immediately discarded. Needles are inserted using clean needle technique into the body, usually just beneath the skin. They are either removed immediately or within 5 to 20 minutes. Massage. Kelly McIntyre graduated in 2000 from the Baltimore School of Massage, and is a nationally certified as a Massage Therapist through the NCBTMB. Bringing to her practice is 17+ years experience in the Occupational Therapy field, working with children, adult and geriatric populations. A certified Reiki Practitioner working with therapeutic touch, she is also certified in pre-natal massage for moms (and dads) who need relief while waiting for and welcoming new life, and after birth needs. Therapeutic massage is beneficial to the body because it reduces stress and blood pressure, and instills a sense of calm. Massage can influence health and wellness in many areas, including pain management, recovery from surgery/ injury, lymph and blood circulation, body awareness some chronic illnesses such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, depression/ anxiety. Massage enables spirit, body and mind connection (and balance). Every client is offered respect and dignity - you will be fully covered with a sheet and only the body part being massaged will be exposed. If there is an area more sensitive than others, tell me and I will not touch it. If there is an area that needs more attention, tell me. Clients may close their eyes and rest or talk during the massage. Music and scented oils are used as each client prefers.
