Cooley Dance Company
Our owners/instructors are dedicated to a safe, positive environment for all of our students. We value fun and hard work equally and strive to exceed your expectations. We believe that dance teaches children the discipline and self-confidence needed to become well-rounded individuals.
Our classes:
- Hip-Hop. A popular style of high-energy dance, paired with bold music and strong beats. Students will learn how to isolate the body, pop and lock, and perform basic break-dance skills. Music and choreography will be appropriate for all age levels.
- Hip-Hop Fitness. A popular class for adults looking for a fun way to exercise. This class is aerobics combined with the latest hip-hop moves set to high energy music.
- Jazz. Another high energy class for students who have been studying dance for a few years. Across the floor combinations along with turns and jumps are incorporated into this style, along with challenging choreography. Proper stretching along with conditioning core muscles will be emphasized.
- Tap. A great class for children and adults that cant keep their feet still! We teach the Al Gilbert method of tap. Students will be exposed to a variety of classic tap styles, such as Swing, Broadway, & Rhythm tap.
- Ballet. The foundation of dance. Ballet is recommended for all children who are serious about excelling in the art of dance. Proper technique and positioning is a crucial part of this structured class.
- Lyrical/Modern. An intermediate/advanced class exploring both Lyrical and Modern techniques. Based on ballet technique, dancers will explore non-traditional movements along with musical interpretations. Dancers will learn how to convey the meaning of songs through expression and emotion. A creative and fun class for dancers looking to try a popular style of dance!
- Acro (Acrobatics). Great for students who love to tumble!! Students will learn the proper technique to perform tricks at their level of ability. Stretching and increasing flexibility will be another important side of Acro. Also great for students who are interested in gymnastics, yet are looking at performing from a dance aspect.
- Pre-School. A beginner class, focused on teaching basic coordination through dance, such as marching, hopping, skipping, and galloping. Basic ballet and tap will be taught. Class will be light and upbeat, with songs relating to ABC’s, counting, and other popular tunes. Tumbling will also be introduced. A great class to get your little one performing and introduce them to dance!
- Combo Class. These classes will be split between ballet/tap and basic positions and combinations will be taught. This is the Intro level of Ballet and Tap. Students will begin learning proper ballet and tap terminology, proper turnout, how to spot for turns, and how to count music/recognize rhythm patterns. Jazz will also be incorporated occasionally.
