Hussian School of Art
The Hussian School of Art believes that a potential student’s ability to succeed in the Visual Arts is not always accurately predicted through an evaluation of high school transcripts and standardized test scores alone. Artists, visual people, may not always test well academically. They may tend to relate more to visual hands-on courses and situations and can sometimes be less academically motivated.
We believe that a personal interview and an evaluation of your portfolio of art examples, along with an understanding of your current academic transcript, will be the combined indicator of your talent, motivation and career potential.
Don’t be overly concerned with what is in your portfolio. We see many portfolios–from ones that reflect previous formal training, to portfolios of individuals who are mostly self taught and haven’t yet had that formal exposure–but represent a talent that can develop into a highly successful Designer or Illustrator.
The school is looking for students who have a sincere desire to explore new possibilities, work hard to realize their personal best and who are eager to produce original works of art.
You must be a high school graduate or have earned a GED (General Education Development Certificate) and have a personal interview, and submit samples of your original work of approximately 10 to 15 pieces. (Drawings, sketchbook, sketches, small paintings, classroom assignments, computer-generated artwork, etc.) Your current high school transcript must be sent to the Admissions Office, and should be mailed prior to your personal interview if possible.
All applicants are considered for admission and participation in all school-directed functions without regard to race, color, sex, age, national origin, or physical handicap.
Continuing and Special Education
The Hussian School of Art offers courses for persons considering a second career or career change, or advanced professionals on a part-time basis. A portfolio is not required, but is preferred to better evaluate and suggest courses to meet personal objectives more effectively.Call us at
