The Traditions Painting Education Program. A developmental decorative painting program for all skill levels from beginner to advanced. If you are a beginning painter interested in learning the art of decorative painting or a "seasoned" painter who has begun to look for more, this is the series for you: spend an evening a week in the company of other artists exploring your inner creativity and investing in your art education with the Traditions Painting Education Program. While painting beautiful trays, trunks, and other surfaces for your home, this system will take you from the basics to the advanced in painting techniques as well as fill in the blanks and provide the advanced painter with the knowledge that was missed while just painting projects.
The Traditions course is a sequential program consisting of 3 sections (A, B, and C) with 10 lessons in each section (for a total of 30 lessons) that gradually increase in difficulty and skill level. Along the way, you will enjoy the camaraderie of other students, the joy of creativity and the rich history of the decorative painting styles.
Beginning Level Classes:
The section A classes are especially appropriate for individuals who have never painted, have painted on a limited basis only, or have painted using oils and need brought up-to-date on the current techniques involved with acrylic painting. Section A is divided into 4 six-week sessions with the first session covering the first four lessons in Section A and lasting for 6 weeks.
- Paint. It is a requirement of the Traditions Painting Education Program that you paint with the Traditions line. It is the finest quality acrylic which includes top-of-the-line pigments that enable a small drop of paint to cover three times the surface of other paints. The colors never fade and include properties that enable a decorative artist to complete techniques never before possible using an acrylic.
We stock the entire line and also offer an economical beginner's ten-pack. It is included in the beginner's kit or can be purchased separately.
- Surfaces. Most lessons are painted on a watercolor tablet. There will be a tin surface, and a few wood surfaces that will be used and purchased separately during the sessions.
Children’s classes. These classes are drawing and painting class for all ages and all skill levels. We meet 2 Saturday’s a month in the a.m. Children learn to draw and sketch. Then we advance to using our drawing to paint it on canvas. These classes are very open and creative. Children should wear old clothes or a cover up.
The studio is always available for Birthday parties.
