Arrowhwad Day Camp
Since our inception in 1956 Arrowhead has operated with the simple motto "a busy child is a happy child." Situated on over 50 acres of magnificent rolling countryside, Arrowhead offers the best of both worlds - close enough to enable a reasonable ride to camp - far enough to leave behind the noise and congestion of daily life. All of our energy and concentration are devoted to your child's health, safety and welfare.
Where new experiences are common daily occurrences, where friendships and memories are endeared. Where kids can learn, grow and enjoy to the maximum of their talents and abilities.
Facilities:
All our facilities are designed and maintained with the common purpose of providing each camper a chance to experience new challenges in a safe environment.
All campers are separated and placed into 'bunks' based on two criteria - age and gender. Each bunk is given a name (Indian tribes, sports teams etc.) and supervised by a Senior counselor and 2 Junior counselors. Each bunk follows a roster that enables them to experience all the camp has to offer based on age appropriateness. A typical day consists of sports, swim, lunch and snack, specialty activities and outdoor skills.
Our facilities offer everything a child and camper could desire. From heated swimming pools to our air conditioned Mess Hall, from hundreds of shade trees to fields of green. We have it all and everything is designed for maximum safety standards.
The most important aspect of any camp is the people - Administrators, Directors, Counselors or Specialists - that interact daily and are responsible for the campers’ well being. At Arrowhead we pride ourselves on the quality and quantity of our dedicated staff members.
Our Staff:
All staff are hired based on two primary criteria - their love of children and their love of the outdoors.
Our Directors are all educators in various school districts throughout the area. Their length of service at Arrowhead averages over 15 years. They are experts in their field whether it be programming, transportation, nutrition, maintenance or safety - all working together for the common goal of a safe and memorable summer for each camper.
Our Counselors are hired for their love of children, their experience, their patience, and their enthusiasm. Minimum criteria is 2 years of college (education majors), certified schoolteachers, and past camping experience. Our returning staff ratio of over 70% is a tribute to their dedication and commitment.
Our Specialists are employed for their knowledge and experience in particular areas, whether it be swim, art, gymnastics, tennis, or archery and the like - All trained professional staff who are committed to sharing their knowledge with our campers using patience, nurturing, and enthusiasm.
Our support staff - are all part of the Arrowhead team - individuals committed to providing each camper with their best summer ever!
Our camper to staff ratio of 4 to 1 is further evidence of our sincere desire of proper supervision and commitment to safety!
