Active Learning Center
The staff at ALC is one of our best assets. We believe that our vast experience with children combined with our positive attitude allows us to exceed the expectations of the children and parents we serve.
We have two locations - Emmaus, PA and Breinigsville, PA. ALC is also home to Lehigh Valley Martial Arts where adults and kids as young as 5 practice Kung fu and Tai Chi.
Before & after school care
Parents are able to drop their children off before school and they will have a safe place to prepare for the day ahead. Transportation is provided to and from school. In the event of snow days or early school closings we will remain open.
We are committed to providing child care programs that encourage mental, physical, and emotional well-being. ALC emphasizes a well-rounded program that takes shape week by week based on the children’s interests. We provide for literacy, arts, health, and fitness on a daily basis. Math and science activities are planned a minimum of three times a week and technology and social competence activities are planned at least twice a week.
A unique benefit at Active Learning Center is our martial arts training program. All children enrolled in our before & after school child care are encouraged to participate in the martial arts classes .
Preschool / Pre-K
ALC’s preschool and pre-kindergarten curriculums are based on the PA learning standards for early childhood development. Our programs are designed to prepare the children for elementary school and have an emphasis on a healthy, active approach to life.
The curriculum structure provides for learning in: language and literacy, mathematics, creative arts, science, and social studies. There is a shared emphasis on critical thinking, social skills, and physical fitness.
All children enrolled in our preschool and pre-kindergarten child care programs are encouraged to participate in our martial arts classes (at no additional charge.) This is a unique opportunity that allows the children to build more life skills to enhance their learning experience. We have a martial arts curriculum that is specially designed for this age group which emphasizes self-discipline, goal setting, self-confidence, and respect for others.
Kindergarten
We provide child care the half of the day that your child is not in kindergarten class at school. Transportation is provided to and from school and we accomodate both AM and PM kindergarten. In the event of snow days or early school closings we will remain open.
Additional family members such as siblings, parents, and grandparents may take the classes at a discounted rate.
